Dr. Dong Chen received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in May 2018 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Before that, he completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science in July 2014 from Northeastern University, China. His research focuses on building data-driven computer systems with a particular emphasis on sustainability, system security, and data privacy of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), such as smart homes, smart grid, smart transportation, and smart cities. His research has been spanning multiple technical fields, including machine learning, deep learning, image processing, and privacy implication. His work was published at top CS conferences like IPSN’20, MASS’19, ICDCS’18, BuildSys’18, BigData’17, BuildSys’16, and Percom’14. In addition, his work on smart energy and smart home data analytics has been applied to real-world applications, which he has made publicly available.
